The alkaloids of Tylophora have been shown to have an anti-asthmatic and anti-inflammatory response. The leaves of the plant are used in Ayurvedic medicine for the treatment of asthma, bronchitis, and arthritis. In the cur-rent study, the phyto-constituents and major secondary metabolites found in Tylophora indica leaves and stem were isolated and extracted using differ-ent solvents and analysed by FT-IR spectroscopy to have a semi qualitative analysis by comparing the structure of tylophorine (major secondary metab-olite found in Tylophora leaves having anti-asthamatic activity) with the ex-tracted product. The chloroformic leaf extract (200μl) of T. indica was inves-tigated for altered immunologic response in mice. In response to plant ex-tract, lymphocyte count increased in mice representing the immuno-stimulatory effect of plant extract.
