Abstract

Proline is considered to be associated with stress tolerance in plants. In the present study, free proline was estimated in the root, stem and leaves of 12 species of family acanthaceae collected in different seasons during 2011 from southern Rajasthan. It is observed that the proline content was higher in summer seasons in comparison to other seasons. The maximum content of proline was reported in the stem of Elytraria acaulis and minimum in roots of Justicia quinqueangularis.
